This position reports to the Front-End Mechanical Maintenance Leader and is responsible for leading approximately nine (9) unionized journeymen mechanics that provide maintenance and reliability support/initiatives for the Naheola Mill Converting Operations area.
ABOUT THE NAHEOLA OPERATIONS
Georgia-Pacific's Naheola Mill located in Pennington, Alabama, is a manufacturing site for the company's well-known consumer products business. More than 800 employees produce a wide range of products for the consumer business, including Angel Soft® bath tissue and Sparkle® paper towels, as well as bleached paperboard used in Dixie® paper cups and plates.
The mill is the largest employer in the community and is engaged in supporting community outreach, workforce development and education. The area is a sportsman's paradise with world-class hunting for deer, turkey and other small game and is bounded on the east by the Tombigbee River which provides such recreation as freshwater fishing, boating and water skiing. Residents of this area enjoy the mild climate, a low cost of living, and is an easy drive to the many resort communities and soft white-sand beaches of the Gulf Coast.
A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
Manage and deploy hourly union journeymen mechanics work crew to safely perform work duties.
Lead development of hourly union journeymen mechanics work crew in craft skills as necessary.
Monitor quality of mechanical work through procedures, training and discipline to reduce re-work issues.
Promote safety through proactive involvement in safety training, behavior, conditions, and work practices.
Work closely and coordinate with Production and other Maintenance personnel to insure necessary tasks for equipment productivity and reliability are accomplished on a planned basis and maintenance manpower utilization is optimized.
Identify and implement improvements that result in year-over-year improvements in safety, employee productivity, maintenance and costs.
Maintain accurate records.
Lead execution of labor contract and resolution of labor issues.
Apply and drive MBM principles throughout the organization.
What You Will Need:
High School Diploma or GED Three (3) or more years' of mechanical maintenance experience supporting an industrial operations Three (3) or more years' experience in a supervisory role One (1) or more years' experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) One (1) or more years' experience with reporting tools or generating reports Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and Project) Ability to work extended hours when necessary, and serve on a week-end duty team on a rotational basis.

Associates Degree or Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Technology Working Experience with SAP, Passport Prior work experience in a union environment Prior work experience in the pulp and paper industry
