Georgia Pacific is currently recruiting an Assistant Superintendent for the Monticello, MS facility supporting the Power & Recovery area. The successful candidate will have leadership responsibility for the safe and environmentally compliant operation of a gas fired boiler, two recovery boilers, combination fuel boiler, evaporators, liquor making, two electrical power generation turbines, mill water, waste water, compressed air, and feedwater systems.

This position will provide the necessary technical support to optimize the operation by working with operators, shift supervisors and the leadership team to improve efficiency and lower operating cost.

This position will report to the Utilities Production Leader and coordinate closely with the asset availability leader and reliability/maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and effective spending.

Georgia Pacific's paper mill in Monticello, MS has been in operation since 1968, and employs 450 employees. The Monticello mill has the capability to produce over 1,000,000 tons of containerboard each year. It is located in central Mississippi about 65 miles from Hattiesburg , MS; 20 miles from Brookhaven , MS; and is 1 hour from capital city of Jackson , MS.

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
Provide leadership through the application of Market Based Management® to achieve superior results. Facilitate a culture of safety and environmental excellence through critical hazard identification, risk reduction, and risk mitigation. Work with front line supervisors to coach and develop employees. Provide operational/business leadership and technical support for the manufacturing process of the area and facilitate troubleshooting and problem solving to achieve goals. Lead teams in the identification, development, evaluation and implementation of safety, quality and/or cost reduction initiatives and projects that add the highest value to the operation to drive continuous improvement. Develop and support the effective use of procedures in order to promote a safe and reliable operation. Optimize and coordinate planning for scheduled shutdowns, operator training, and maintenance and capital projects.
What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technical Field AND a minimum of 5 years' experience working with power and/or recovery processes OR 15 years of experience in power and/or recovery processes AND 3 years of supervisory experience can be substituted for the Bachelor's Degree Five or more years of troubleshooting power and recovery processes Experience in developing and implementing improvement processes and projects

What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:
7 years or more experience with power and/or recovery processes
3 years of prior leadership and facilitator skills
Proven understanding of Kraft process chemical recovery operations
Experience working in a Process Safety Management (PSM) covered facility
Basic process control experience
Experience using Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
