Production Supervisor - Rome, GA

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Production Supervisor for our Lumber Mill in Rome, GA. The Production Supervisor will be responsible for leading a wood products production team to work injury-free/incident free in a continuous manufacturing environment consistent with management philosophy and framework. The Production Supervisor is also responsible for supervising and coordinating production efforts that result in sustained improvement in all associated work processes including: Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) compliance, reliability, quality, production, and costs.

This is a night shift supervisor position.

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

Oversee operations at the facility by monitoring product quality and contributing to the overall success of the Rome operation.
Facilitate team development and communication, employee skill development, problem-solving and resolution, building employee commitment and ownership.
Hold employees accountable and drive cultural change in which employees understand empowerment and accept responsibilities.
Drive safety excellence through promoting employee involvement, ownership, and accountability to proactively eliminate hazards.
Recognize and address both positive and negative individual and team performance.
Promote employee involvement, providing coaching, feedback and direction as required.
Assist with troubleshooting production issues.
Provide safety training to crew members and deliver training materials in a meaningful approach.
Provide coaching and performance management.
Complete data entry responsibilities and generate reports in a timely and efficient manner.
Team size may range from 20-30 members.

Organizational Responsibility:
This position reports to the Dept Superintendent. This person will work with key operations personnel such as the Plant Manager, Superintendents (Operations and Maintenance), Production Supervisors, Human Resources Manager, EHS Manager, and maintenance and production personnel at all levels of the site organization in efforts to identify improvement opportunities and solutions.

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED
Two (2) or more years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or military environment
Experience coaching, counseling and developing employees
Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to learn various PC-based production reporting applications
Must be able and willing to work a flexible schedule
Must be able and willing to work in a manufacturing plant environment, including extended periods of time in noisy, non-air conditioned or unheated areas
Must be able and willing to work safely, and adhere to all safety rules and regulations, including wearing and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)

What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree with a preference in a Wood Products, technical or business discipline
Experience in Lumber Manufacturing Process
Experience in the implementation of reliability and maintenance programs ensuring continuous reliability of production equipment
